It was missing a small swivel to complete our range. It is ideal for creating a hinge effect for rigid rigs with a pop up, fitting that made the great Terry Hearn famous.
Considered by many to be a big fish rig, it is often used as a single hook bait or over a small bait mat. We combine it with a Wide Gape hook and a small rig ring.
Once the rigid section of the hooklink has been completed, we advise you to tighten the knot over a source of steam to create an angle and clear the eyelet from the hook.
The steam will stiffen the last part and the hook will be more aggressive.
In recent years small swivels have been used on new rotative rigs where the swivel is attached by the ring on the hooklink, and the point of a Long Shank hook threaded through the eye of the swivel.
In general the bait slides on the shank thanks to a small ring between two stop-floats.
In combination with a pop up this rig is known to be impossible to ejected, and the famous Dave Lane has used it with great success.
